Man, do I know what you mean about organizing to be organized! I would suffer greatly without my Treo which lets me have all my phone numbers, calendar, and email (if I really want) in one place. I've tried online calendars, but just don't like them (and then I would have to have one for work, one for home, ick!). When I add family events to the calendar, I include my husband on the invite so he has it on his calendar too. So far it works for us, but we only have one little one to keep track of. We used to have a battle every morning about what to wear (my 3 year old had an opinoin), often leading to clothes being tossed about the room in the selection process. I bought a shoe organizer that hangs on a door, and her clothes go in as an outfit, and she can pick! Easy solution, and makes use of vertical space. Also made me realize that she really does have enough clothes! I also use a notebook - one for home and one for work. I write all my notes, to do lists, ideas, etc in them, way easier to keep track of than scattered paper and a million sticky notes.
Brilliant ideas Kathleen!!! Never would have thought to use a shoe organizer for anything but shoes!! I LOVE IT!!! And ummm somewhere under all the yellow sticky notes, scratch paper and millions of notepads is my to-do list....hmmmm now where is it....if only I had ONE notebook!!! LOL
As computer oriented as I am, I still find it easier to maintaintain a paper calendar. I am not the greatest typist and I can jump up and jot a note on my desk-blotter-sized calendar that I hang on the wall behind the door in my study. I got it at one of the office stores...Staples or Office Depot I think. It is actually a pad of about 100 pages, with a blank calendar grid. I tear off the page each month and fill in the Month and day numbers. This is my DSP Challenge callendar, with every challenge that I want to do listed on the due date. I check off each challenge as I complete it and I also note if there is a bonus with a B, then I circle the B once I receive the bonus. I use a pencil in case I need to erase. I'll have to take a photo of my calendar and do a layout.
I also maintain a separate Lang wall calendar which hangs where Bob can access it too. We keep track of all doctor appts, and misc. plans on this calendar.
I tried to keep a PDA once, but it is just not convenient for me to use, and keepint the info on my computer doesn't help is the power is out or I don't want to boot up my machine.
I think organization depends on what works for you....
I also have rather anal procedures for organizing and backing up my photos, layouts and digi-kits. I can find almost anything I need within a few minutes. I maintain a minimum of 2 copies of most files, and 3 of the really important ones. I guess that's why I have a desktop, laptop, and 4 EHDs - 100GB, 200GB, 500GB and 1TB. LOL.
LOL...I just read Kathleen's suggestions and wanted to add that I buy Steno pads in bulk to keep all of my notes about EVERYTHING. Pages that are of no use anymore can easily be torn out and others left in.....
