I had a great suggestion from Jennilynn to do some book reviews on my blog. I am a big mystery/suspense fan, so a majority of my books are going to be just that. I am NOT the fastest reader in the world and between scrapping, working, and two kids at home for the summer my reading time is limited! BUT I do get to read, probably read about 1 book every week or week and a half (sometimes that drags into 2-3 weeks in which case you can assume I am busy making you guys some fun and exciting kits....)
Soooooo....since I just finished a book last night, I will go ahead and give my quick thoughts on it, if youve read it, be sure to let me know what you think! If you haven't, well I can't promise you that you will agree with my review, but hey, its my opinion right????
Ok...so I am a HUGE fan of Ted Dekker, he a Christian mystery author but he definitely twists some sci-fi and adventure into his books. Now let me clarify...I am NOT a sci-fi fan, yes I can sit through Star Wars and "enjoy" it, but its more "Ohhhh look how cute the Ewoks are!" and "Wow, I love Princess Leah's hair." But I have to admit, Dekker's books are just fantastic. I have yet to read one that I DON'T like!
I just finished a book called Skin Brief explanation....small town is rocked by a crazy tornado, killer on the loose, 5 random strangers are thrown together to fight said killer. Now....thats all fine and dandy, but then the town disappears and suddenly the 5 strangers and killer are in the middle of the desert, no town, no nothing....interesting? Yeah, to say the least...and that was only about 50 pages in...There are many twists and turns in the book that you will NOT predict! If you do, you are WAY more on top of things than me. This book through me for a loop a couple of times. Kept me guessing until the end and left me wanting more!!! (Yes that was a very sad, very brief book review, but hey, its my first, give me a break!)
Ok...all that being said...I give it a 4.5 out 5 stars. How is that for my first book review????

Yay - I'm so glad to see you're trying my suggestion! I have never heard of Dekker, and I actually do like sci-fi & fantasy. I will definitely have to check this one out from my library. Thanks for the review :)

Yeah! This is great - Tina does movie reviews and it helps alot on DVD's. Now I've got a mystery suspense reviewer! I do like scifi but not so much fantasy, well, except for Harry Potter? is that fantasy - lol. I've never heard of Dekker, but now I will check out the library and try him. Mystery readers are always looking for a new author to check out! Thanks!
Mysteries are my favorite too but I recently read a book I just loved called Water for Elephants.
I just had to add to what Maureen said. Water for Elephants was one of the best books that I've read recently! I don't know how you would classify it, but I highly recommend it.
