Childhood Toys

Today's blog prompt is Once Upon a time (about childhood toys)...
Well, to be honest, this has NOTHING to do with MY childhood toys, but more to do with my realization that I am now fit that category of "Mom, are you serious????" You remember when you were a kid and you were talking to your mom about a toy or a TV show or ANYTHING and she was like "What's that???? I have never heard of a...." and you were like "MOM ARE YOU SERIOUS?" And you would give her that look that said "Wow, I she REALLY doesn't get it!" Well, I realized yesterday that I am now one of those moms that DOESN'T get it!!!! I was teaching my daughters Sunday School class and we were talking about wants versus needs. We need water, air, etc....We want nice clothes, toys, and a DS.....at which point I say "WHAT IS A DS?" Every 8 year old in the room just stopped and starred at me...."Are you serious????" They ask.....Well, I was until I realized that I sound really really uninformed! A DS....better known as a Nintendo DS (see, if they had called it a Nintendo, I at LEAST would have understood that it was a video game system!!!!!!) But I guess a DS is the next big thing that EVERY child wants!! And what's more...it comes in all sorts of cool colors and even in something called Lite...just in case the regular handheld DS system is too much for your poor little arms to hold! Are you kidding me????

Well, I'm one of those that didn't get it either because I didn't know what a DS was! lol Just imagine many years from now what your grandchildren will say!

My daughter turned 9 just before Christmas. The only thing she wanted for Christmas was a DS. She had to explain to me what it was. LOL. But Santa did end up bringing her one.
